Hollymock Band

An open-call, pick-up band that plays in the annual Hollyhock Lane Parade in Grand Rapids on the 4th of July. Anyone who plays a band instrument is welcome to participate!
We play a couple of patriotic numbers, and perform an extremely tricky technical maneuver, the "fire drill," at the parade route intersections. (Seriously, everyone wanders around for a couple of drum cadences. Slap five with spectators, find someone to tie your floppy shoelace, or stand in the middle and rotate ... it's all good.)
At the end of the parade are light refreshments and a brief patriotic program held in the alley between Calvin and Giddings, in southeast Grand Rapids. It's a fun musical way to kick off your Independence Day!

Join us!

We meet at the alley garage behind 846 Calvin SE, Grand Rapids around 8 am on July 4. Pick up your music and vest, then proceed to the alley by 942 Calvin. Parade steps off at 8:30 am and goes about a mile.
Parking available at the GRPS building (click for map), or ride your bike!

Low brassers and percussion especially welcome, and please invite your friends. The parade always needs banner carriers, folks to help decorate the alley spaces, and additional volunteers.
